Like any technology, OPI has its limitations, especially not having face-to-face contact with the person on the other end of the phone. As my Otolaryngologist colleague explained to me, “Telephones miss nuance. They miss facial expressions and body language. As a physician, these are all important to me. That’s why I prefer in-person communicating, in my office or with my computer” through video or VRI.
